Description: Salt Cedar and Russian Olive Control Program - The Salt Cedar and Russian Olive Control Demonstration Act, signed into law in October, 2006, authorizes the Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Geological Survey to: (1) assess the extent of the infestation of salt Cedar and Russian olive trees in the Western U.S., (2) demonstrate strategic solutions for the long-term management of these species and the reestablishment of native vegetation, and (3) assess economic means to dispose of biomass created as a result of management activities. Funding would allow the federal government to assess the scope of the problem and propose solutions to address the extensive infestations in the western United States.
